About the Conference
What is the CYFAM Conference?
The CYFAM Conference is an annual event organized by the Council of Young Filipinx Americans in Medicine (CYFAM). The 5th Annual & 2025 Conference, titled “Tulay ng Pag-asa” (Bridge of Hope), focuses on bridging gaps through medical innovation and cultural understanding.
Who can attend the conference?
The Conference welcomes all students, trainees, healthcare practitioners, medical educators, researchers, public health advocates, cultural and community leaders, and anyone interested in advancing healthcare, research, innovation, and community building within the Filipinx community.
When and where is the conference taking place?
The Conference is on February 15-16, 2025, at the Dorrance H. Hamilton Building at Thomas Jefferson University – Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine, located at 1001 Locust St, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
Each day begins at 9 AM U.S. Eastern.
Who Should Attend & What to Expect
For Pre-Medical Students
Why should I attend if I’m a pre-medical student?
The conference provides valuable exposure to the medical field, networking opportunities with physicians and medical students, and guidance on how to navigate a career of medicine.
Will there be opportunities to connect with medical students and physicians?
Yes! There will be structured mentorship sessions, speed networking events, and discussions featuring medical students, practicing physicians, or other community members.
Can I participate if I have no research or clinical experience yet?
Absolutely! The conference is designed to help pre-medical students of all backgrounds, whether you have extensive experience or are just starting. Research and clinical exposure workshops will help you understand how to get involved.
For Medical Students
What will medical students gain from attending?
Medical students will have access to networking with attending physicians, researchers, and other community members. You’ll also get insights into leadership in medical organizations and Filipinx representation in medicine.
Will there be a focus on research and how I can get involved?
Yes! There will be a Research Symposium where students can present their work and connect with mentors for potential future projects.
I’m a medical student. Is this relevant for all specialties?
Yes! While there will be discussions on common Filipinx representation in medicine, such as primary care and surgery, the Conference welcomes students from all specialties, including non-clinical pathways like public health and policy.
For Residents, Fellows, Attendings, and Researchers
Can I connect with other Filipinx physicians and leaders?
Absolutely! The conference fosters mentorship and collaboration between Filipinx professionals at different career stages, helping build a strong support network.
What can attending physicians and researchers gain from the conference?
This is an opportunity to connect with future generations of medical professionals, engage in discussions on Filipinx health disparities, and contribute to mentorship initiatives. You can also present research, participate in panels, and build collaborations.

I’m not in clinical medicine. Can I still benefit from attending?
Yes! The conference includes discussions on public health initiatives, community-driven healthcare solutions, and interesting intersections of Filipinx identity and healthcare, which are valuable for public health professionals, policymakers, and advocates.
Will there be discussions on Filipinx health disparities?
Yes! There will be dedicated sessions to addressing healthcare disparities in Filipinx communities.

How do I register for the conference?

Is there a registration fee?

Can I register on-site?
Yes, you may register on-site for the Conference by the official CYFAM Registration Site.
If you have any questions, please ask any CYFAM organizers during check-in.
Can I pay by cash?
We do not accept cash payments at this time or on-site at the Conference.
How do I pay by check?
We do not accept check payments at this time or on-site at the Conference.
When do I get my name badge?
You will receive your name badge during check-in at the Conference.
Attendees registered on or after February 13, 2025, may be provided a hand-written name badge. This is due to logistical limitations for processing conference registrations. We apologize for any inconvenience.
I am presenting. Do I need to register?
Yes, as a presenter, you must register for the Conference.
I am an exhibitor. Do I need to register?
Yes, as an exhibitor, you must register for the Conference.
Please indicate that you are an Exhibitor as part of the registration process. Each exhibitor is entitled to three (3) persons. Any additional persons must register for the full ticket price, according to their tier.
For example:
If Company X wishes to have five (5) persons represent them at the Conference, three (3) persons are covered, and the remaining two (2) persons must purchase individual tickets. Should Company X decide to purchase the Guest Pass: Single-Session Access Only tickets for the remaining two (2) persons, they may only attend the Exhibitions component of the Conference.
Exhibitors are permitted to attend Day 2 of the Conference.
Can I register a guest?
CYFAM does not offer a full guest registration. Presenters can have two (2) spouses, parents, mentors, and/or friends attend their specific session for $9.95/each; additional persons must register for the full Conference. This can be added during the registration process.
Please select the Guest Pass: Single-Session Access Only ticket when registering your guest. You must accompany your guest at check-in.
If you would like your guest(s) to accompany you to multiple sessions, events, or the exhibition hall, they must register for the full Conference.
Can my family attend the Conference?
Supervised children 17 and younger can attend for free and are welcome in all areas of the Conference during open times. However, if children begin to make noise during scientific sessions, it’s critical that parents remove them from the room immediately so as not to disturb the session. Children are not permitted in any Conference space during set-up and tear-down. Children must follow the health and safety policies to remain at the meeting.
Presenters can have up to two (2) spouses, parents, mentors, and/or friends attend their session for $9.95/each. This can be added during the registration process. If you would like your family member(s) to accompany you to multiple sessions and events, they must be registered for the Conference.
At Check-In and During the Conference
Do I need to keep my name badge for both days?
Yes, we kindly ask that you retain your name badge for all days of the Conference.
Loss of your name badge may require re-registration and a new ticket.
Are lunch and snacks/beverages provided at the Conference?
Yes, lunch is provided as part of your ticket for Day 1. Select snacks and beverages are provided on both days.
