This March 2025, we celebrated the remarkable achievements of our Filipinx American medical community, spotlighting those who have successfully matched into residency programs and the distinguished recipients of the CYFAM Mr. Ramon Niango Ramos Conference Scholarship. This scholarship, named in honor of Mr. Ramon Niango Ramos—a visionary whose perseverance and dedication continue to inspire future generations—supports medical trainees in their leadership and educational journeys.
CYFAM (Council of Young Filipinx Americans in Medicine) is excited to announce that Dr. Katherine Luzuriaga will receive the “Legacy Award” at CYFAM’s 5th Annual Conference in Philadelphia. Dr. Luzuriaga is a leading physician-scientist known for bridging research and patient care in pediatric infectious diseases. The conference will be held on February 15–16, 2025, at the Dorrance H. Hamilton Building, Thomas Jefferson University – Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine.
In collaboration with NCAPIP and the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA), CYFAM's Community Engagement Committee hosted an educational webinar, "Bakuna Muna: Protecting our Communities through Vaccination," on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
The CYFAM Education Committee held a Skills Workshop - Speaking your Story, on Thursday, October 24, 2024. The event was split into two parts - a mini-lecture, followed by a breakout session into smaller groups to allow participants an opportunity to practice.
In commemorating the 4th Annual Conference – Pamana sa Kinabukasan (Gift to the Future): The Filipinx Legacy as Seeds of the Future – CYFAM proudly announces the Kinabukasan and Conference Scholarship Awards.
The award celebrates Dr. Connie’s remarkable journey as a trailblazing Fil Am physician and military woman, underscoring her significant contributions to the field of medicine. The conference will occur on February 17th-18th, 2024 at the James West Alumni Center at University of California, Los Angeles.
